The composition is inspired by a model attributed to Jean-André Reiche (master bronze-caster active from 1785), one of the most renowned craftsmen of his time.At the center of the scene is a graceful young woman, absorbed in her reading, seated at a classical-style desk decorated with refined details such as an oil lamp, scrolls and books.
