Large 18th-century Venetian Wall Sconce With Engraved Mirror – Mythological Figure
Elegant and rare Venetian wall sconce from the mid-18th century, entirely carved and gilded with gold leaf, featuring an engraved mirror with a mythological figure, likely one of the three Fates, goddesses of destiny in classical mythology. The frame has an elegantly contoured shape, richly decorated with scrolls, floral motifs, and rocaille ornamentation.
The upper crest shows signs of reworking and regilding, probably carried out in the late 19th century. It is likely that the upper carved section was partially replaced, while maintaining stylistic coherence.
At the bottom, there is a decorative arm with a small electrical system, probably added in the 20th century, adorned with daisy-shaped floral elements, enhancing its decorative appeal.
