France circa 1860: "Portrait of a Man with a Pocket Chain", oval daguerreotype 7.5 X 6 cm, mounted in an oval blackened wooden frame 13 X 11.5 cm by a brass mari-louise. Chain enhanced with gold, small peripheral oxidations.
This handsome bearded man, visibly sure of himself and his beautiful ease, poses at the photographer's in a frock coat, waistcoat and tie, the large waistcoat chain enhanced so that it is clearly visible !
