Pair Of Meissen Plates 1735/1740
A pair of Meissen plates, both with wavy rims decorated in interlaced relief. Polychrome decoration of a Korean lion, inspired by oriental motifs, paired with a flowering branch and an insect. Several examples of this type can be found in museums, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Museum of London (inv. 3416-1853). Two of them feature a blue "crossed swords" mark; on the back, the letter E is inscribed in the paste.
