Pair Of Paintings By The Greek Artist Antonis Ninos, 20th Century
Artist: Antonis Ninos
A pair of paintings by the Greek artist Antonis Ninos (also known as Antonis-Alexandros Ninos). Born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1912, he died there in 1996. He began his artistic training under the guidance of the painter N. Gogos. He then moved to France, where he studied with Jean-Gabriel Domergue and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, working in André Lhote’s studio. He also furthered his studies in design with J. Royère. In 1957, he settled in Athens, where he also worked as an interior designer. I believe his most sought-after paintings are those depicting harbors and ships. These works are distinguished by their use of abstract forms and highly expressive colors. They appear regularly on the international market and at art auctions, as evidenced by online platforms. It is unlikely that these two paintings were created at the same time: one is entirely abstract, with rather vivid colors; the other depicts a harbor scene with a boat and a shining sun, also in this abstract style. Period frames, 1950s/1960s.
