Adam and Eve bronze relief circa 1950-60"Bronze relief, matte brown/brown patina. Mounted on a wooden plaque. The sculptor: Son of a sculptor, he studied modeling in Tokyo with Fumio Watanabe from 1928. In 1931, he entered the Kozosha Sculpture Research Institute (professor Motowa Saito). In 1939, was selected for the Shinbunten (Revival Exhibition) with a female subject - From 1942 he worked for the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Sports Museum. In 1944 he changed his first name => "Bido". He belonged to the Japanese Ceramic Sculpture Association, founded in 1951 after the war, and was its vice-president. In 1953, he became a member of Nikikai (academy of Fine Arts). He created about 1,000 works during his life. Including public monuments (castle of Kasugayama...) and many statues for temples. Like many of his generation, his art was influenced by European sculpture. From 1928, the Kokugakai (artists' association) advocated total freedom of expression, and this in a Western style.
