Born in Douai, Henri Rogerol attended art school in Douai from 1890 to 1892 where he studied painting, modelling, and sculpture. He then spent six years, first as an apprentice, then as a modeller, at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres in Paris. In 1902 he returned to Douai and started a large workshop producing ornamental sculpture for private and public buildings, later expanding into ceramic production, all the while producing sculptures and paintings for official salon exhibitions. Rogerol was a brilliant sculptor who turned his back on Paris to run a large business and to make sculptures and paintings at his own pace in his home town of Douai (a town with a long history of sculpture). This bust of young girl wearing a winter hat and winter coat with the collar up at the back is not signed but it has a Douai provenance and is almost certainly by Rogerol.
