Very beautiful painting representing an "Ode to the Power of Music". Beautiful composition with the Virgin, supporting the Child who stands on the globe of the world, surrounded by two musician angels. This painting is a very beautiful 17th century replica of a painting by van Dyck whose original has been lost.
The Virgin is beautiful, with a sweet face and looks at the angel who is on her left with tenderness. The angels are playing one the violin, the other the mandolin, both looking at the Child, surrounded by clouds.
The biographer Pietro Belloni mentions the work in his "Vite de Pittori" in 1672.
Large painting, 116x99cm, in a very beautiful 17th century giltwood frame (restored and regilded by our gilder).

The painting has been relined.
A copy is in the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Another copy is on display at the Galleria dell'Accademia di San Luca in Rome.
