Art Deco terracotta group, “Mother and Child”, by Marcel-André BOURAINE (1886-1949). In the exact Art Deco stylization (treatment of hairstyles in particular) and in the borrowing from antiquity for the interpretation of the bodies, this work combines both rigor and grace. Circa 1930, signed on the terrace at the back with the stamp of the Susse Frère establishments in Paris for the edition. Note a small mark on the child’s arm (restoration or firing), a crack on the mother’s wrist (hand placed on the ground), and small losses on the child’s fingers. Beautiful overall presentation.
