"Louis XVI Stamped Gondola Bergères "

Pair of Louis XVI bergères, late 18th / first third 19th, stamps present on one model and trace of stamp on the other: “AHE SCHNEGG”. Identification and links to be confirmed with the French sculptor Lucien Schnegg (1864-1909) whose biography mentions his origins in a family of cabinetmakers in Bavaria. These bergères are offered as is. The walnut structure is in very good condition (probably previously lacquered). Very beautiful workmanship with a carved frieze of interlacing on the entire belt and around the back. Acanthus leaf decoration at the base of the armrests and a continuation of a “Piastre clover” frieze, the legs are tapered, with rudentée fluting. The seat webbing is loose and the printed linen finish dates from the 70s/80s (some stains and halos, superficial oxidation of the nails). Other photos on request.
