Large Statue of Saint John the Baptist or Saint Roch, end of the 17th century, small nature.
Important walnut statue dating from the end of the 17th century and representing Saint Roch presenting with his bubo or perhaps Saint John the Baptist at the time of the baptism of Christ.
beautiful finely detailed sculpture, with a certain realism. the face is expressive.
the drapery is studied and the statue despite its dimensions remains light thanks to the movement of the drapery and the swaying of the hips.
probably painted originally, humidity, insects, time quite simply have marked the wood, look carefully at the photos it gives it a very interesting character.
the statue has not been weakened and a preventive treatment with xylophene was carried out in the workshop. no trace of wood-eating insects now.
