Autograph signature of the artist and foundry mark of SIOT-DECAUVILLE in Paris.
Diameter: 22.3 cm.

In perfect condition
Antonin Clau was born on June 14, 1861 in Toulouse. In 1883, he took part in the competition for the grand prizes of the city of Toulouse, which allowed the winner to obtain a scholarship to study in Paris. He won first prize against Antoine Bourdelle and therefore received a pension from his hometown allowing him to come and study in Paris where he became a student of Falguière. He exhibited from 1889 to 1898, and won an honorable mention at the 1893 Salon. He also made pewter vases and plates published by Siot-Decauville, as is the case here.
