Giovanni Grignaschi (1839-1905) made his career in Milan where he made a specialty of faithfully copying the famous fresco, in detail or in its entirety, reflecting its exact state at the end of the 19th century. The watercolor is framed in a molded and blackened wooden frame and a gilded passe-partout with an oval view. It is signed lower right and dated 1872 and measures 25.5x20 cm without the frame.
