Baluster pewter pitcher with a sloping spout, a slightly domed lid with a shell thumb, and a curved handle with a projection.
Height: 24.5 cm.
BELGIUM (Brussels?), Mid-19th century

In good condition, a consolidation of the upper attachment of the handle is however noted.
These pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime and continued to be so for part of the 19th century until the Metric System introduced in France in 1802 finally became established also beyond our borders.
