Antique Bonbonnière By Ferdinand Barbecienne, bronze Polychrome And Cloisonné Enamel.
BARBEDIENNE HOUSE (Ferdinand Barbedienne, 1810–1892) A precious lidded bowl in chiselled and gilded bronze, richly decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamel. It rests on a tripod base with arched legs ending in claws, surmounted by three lion’s muzzles in high relief, the whole set anchored on a circular gilded bronze plinth. The removable lid is adorned with a stylised lyre-shaped handle. The high quality of the enamel is entirely typical of the work produced by the Maison Ferdinand Barbedienne. It enhances this exceptional piece, particularly through the rich colours used in the decoration. Smooth and glossy, the enamel features a range of shades (midnight blue, cream, brick red) to form this delicate network of partitions inspired by Byzantine and Persian designs.
