Great Virgin Of Mercy “slaying The Serpent”
Large Virgin of Mercy defeating the serpent from the 18th century. Very beautiful quality of gilding, very gentle face. The Virgin of Mercy also called Virgin with the Mantle or Protective Virgin, is an iconographic theme of Christian painting representing the Virgin Mary spreading her mantle above several characters as a sign of protection. It is one of the classic themes of Gothic and Byzantine painting which expresses the benevolence and protective intervention of Mary in favor of the humble and the weak. Very beautiful dimensions Height 108 cm, Width 50 cm. The hands have been restored (see last photos). I can possibly have them restored but there will be an additional cost. Delivery everywhere in France by me.
