Head of Buddha or Bodhisattva in sandstone. The character wears a large, richly decorated headdress. The face is marked by large eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes and a mouth with a moustache (missing in this area). He wears large earrings. Antique Indian work, probably from the Mathura region on the borders of Rajasthan. 1st-3rd century Kusana dynasty 6.5cm high 3.5cm wide 10cm high with the base Base on a plexiglass (work from the 70s) Old Tarn collection (of which I have put up for sale a good number of antique heads and ex-votos)
