Antoine Gryphius, a Lyon printer-bookseller, son of the famous Sébastien Gryphe, perpetuates the humanist tradition of the Gryphe house: sober typography, elegant characters, careful printing. Plutarch's Parallel Lives, translated from Greek into Latin by Hermann Cruserius, had several Lyon printings between 1548 and 1567. Some contemporary editions bear the address of Charles Pesnot, who is said to have printed a parallel version the same year from the same matrices. ????
