Bronze dagger from Luristan

Beautiful bronze dagger from Luristan, measuring 26 cm in length. It features a double-edged blade, a fluted hilt, and a circular, ball-shaped pommel.

The piece has a beautiful green patina, giving it a particularly striking appearance.

This dagger comes from the former Lelièvre collection, which was dispersed at an auction in Chartres on May 11, 1976. Its long-established and well-documented provenance adds to the piece’s appeal.

The blade is currently not attached to the handle. The dagger had previously been broken and then reattached. I deliberately removed the old glue joint in order to present the piece more neatly. All that is needed is a small dot of glue to reattach the two parts.

A beautiful collector’s item with an established provenance, offered at a particularly attractive price due to this past damage and its condition.
