"The headrest, used both in daily life and in religious practices, was a symbol of support and renewal. In miniature, it took the form of protective amulets, often slipped among personal belongings or into linen bandages. Associated with the stability of the head, the seat of consciousness and the soul, it also referred to the sunrise between two mountains, a powerful image of the cycle of rebirth in Egyptian thought."
