Scary Japanese Lacquer Theater Mask Early 20th Century

Scary and imposing mask from Japan dating from the Taishô-early Shôwa period, 20th century.
This is a large mask in brown and red lacquered wood, with golden eyes, reproducing a type of Bugaku theater, identified on the reverse as Taishôtoku, after a model considered a national treasure.

A theater mask in very good condition, large in size and with a scary appearance.

A beautiful collector's mask.
