A rather rare and precious biscuit subject representing love, eros, cupid and mounted on its gilt bronze base and worked with Louis XVI inspiration.
It is signed Bouret on the back of the biscuit for Eutrope Bouret, a renowned French sculptor during the 19th century.
The biscuit is in perfect condition, Cupid appears to us smiling in the form of a young angel with outstretched wings sitting on flowery clouds.
The attitude of the angel is charming, playful in movement as if on the lookout and ready to seize an arrow in its quiver.
Bouret was strongly inspired by the subjects in vogue under Louis XV and Louis XVI, notably the loves appearing in the paintings of François Boucher and designed to decorate the apartments of the favorites and their sovereign.
Our biscuit is originally based on a superb gilt bronze base very finely worked with decoration of quiver interlaced, pearls and ornament typical of the Louis XVI style, the gilding is in good condition.
