Louis XV Master's Cabinet In Walnut
Rare Louis XV master's wardrobe from the end of the 18th century.
We often come across master's chests of drawers or diminutives of chests of drawers, but master's wardrobes are much rarer.
Our wardrobe has all the characteristics of a normal-sized wardrobe.
It is made of solid walnut with a superb old patina. It is fully pegged and opens with two heavily molded front doors comprising three animated panels.
The lower crosspiece is fretted.
The doors open with very beautiful lace-up pins.
It has retained a charming little key and a small working lock.
The doors open onto two shelves, one of which has two drawers.
The uprights are recessed in the mass and end with Louis XV crowbars.
The sides are worked and include two panels.
The gendarme hat cornice is heavily molded and prominent, returning strongly to the front.
The backs seem to have been designed to allow hanging at one time, perhaps for decorative purposes.
No attack by wood-eating insects report but a preventive treatment was carried out in the workshop.
a rare master cabinet to be charming, quite unusual to come across.
dimensions:
32 cm long by 21 cm max depth and 59 cm high.
