Art Deco Vase 1930 – Faience De Tours – Signed Asch
Beautiful Art Deco style vase, from the ASCH workshops, in Ste Radegonde near Tours.
The Asch workshops were founded by Gustave Asch, inventor at the end of the 19th century of "Tours blue", a dark blue enamel close to "Sèvres blue". Even after Gustave Asch left, the characteristic mark will remain one of those used by the Ste Radegonde workshops. It is an axe-shaped mark, as can be seen under our vase.
The belly of the vase is decorated with alternating gold and silver stripes. There are a few scratches on some of these stripes (see photos). The neck is covered in gilding. The foot is also highlighted by a gold circle.
The object is in very good general condition, without any chips. The mark is clearly visible under the bottom.
Object visible at the gallery (07240).
