DRAWING-MODERN ART-GRAPHIC ARTS MIXED TECHNIQUE ON PAPER PEN/WATERCOLOR FRANCE 20TH CENTURY "THE CELESTIAL CATHEDRAL" Large drawing in mixed technique (black pen and watercolor), in a symbolist/neo-classical vein. The scene is set in a “celestial cathedral” opening onto the Riviera skies in the background. It features various characters of medieval inspiration (troubadours, jesters, musicians, high-ranking ladies). The foreground welcomes a fountain (of youth?) from which three characters emerge; it is overlooked by an imposing bouquet of abundant (protective?) vegetation. The vegetation intrudes into the painting (Tree of Life), loose and colorful; in the background, a portico on which a bird stands out (The Holy Spirit?). The central time clock operated by two cherubs surrounding the venerable Master of Time. Very good mastery for this titanic work! (all the "shaded" are done with small interspersed lines).
