Late 17th/early 18th Century High Sculpture Winged Victory In Carved Oak France
SCULPTURE-CLASSICAL ART-ALLEGORY FRANCE HAUTE-ÉPOQUE LATE 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY WINGED VICTORY SOLID OAK Important (102 cm) sculpture in solid oak, late 17th/early 18th century, haute époque style. Classical face with a high Greek profile, wearing a helmet of hair arranged in curls. All wings spread, the right arm stretched in the air and forward (2 fingers restored and two others missing; see photos), the left arm holding/wearing a laurel crown, symbol of victory. She is dressed in a light dress, with drapery rendered in a classical manner, leaning, the right foot on a half-sphere emanating from stylized waves. Multiple restorations (fingers of the right hand, shoulders, wings). Classical allegory typical of its period. Good general condition (see descriptive photos). Imposing piece.
