Ndengese Maternity Drc Central Africa Statue Monoxyle Wood Early 20th Century Primitive Arts

Artist: Peuple Ndengese
AFRICAN ARTS-PRIMARY ARTS-SCULPTURE STATUE SOLID WOOD MATERNITY NDENGESE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO CENTRAL AFRICA EARLY 20TH CENTURY Important Ndengese sculpture depicting a maternity, conceived as a half-figure, legs absent, as is often the case in Ndengese representations. Sophisticated hairstyle/headdress, body/face scarifications, ringed neck, remind us of the aesthetic influence of their famous neighbors, the Kuba. This close and strong relationship is also reminded to us in the geometric patterns present on the arms of our maternity; the body of the child carried at the level of the fertile belly. Beautiful patina characteristic of Ndengese productions. Very good condition (marks, traces; see descriptive photos). Weight: 3.475 kg
