Reliquary With 6 Relics - Virgin And Child And John The Baptist – Lyon - 19th Century

Decorated with a central engraving of the Virgin, Jesus and John, enhanced with gilding, our early 19th century painting accommodates 6 clearly visible ex-ossibus relics. In an elaborate paper montage, fragments of Saint Joseph sit alongside Saint Martha, Saint Madeleine, Saint Aloysi (Louis), Saint Thérèse and Saint Marguerite. On the back are three interesting wax seals bearing the words “Ecclesia comitum Lugduni” of the order of the counts of Lyon. This title is used as an honorary title by members of the chapter of the Church of Lyon.
