Visitandine Work - Paperolle Reliquary - Late 18th Century
A precious devotional work depicting an altar and its vast altarpiece in a paperolle assembly decorated with blue glass beads and containing relics of Saint Francis de Sales, Holy Martyrs, Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Martin as well as four other unidentified relics. In its carved and gilded wooden frame.
A work of congregation attributable to the Sisters of the Visitation because of the honored relics of Saint Joan and Saint Francis and because of the presence of two Sacred Hearts, signatures of their monastic order.
Used condition. Note a detachment of an element of the Summit Glory and some losses.
