Artist: Fray Martial

Faceted crystal jam jar set in a globe-shaped silver setting, resting on a canted base. The handles decorated with foliage and grooves join the twelve spoon support at the top. The domed lid is topped with two facing gadrooned leaves. Probably Baccarat crystal. 12 silver-gilt spoons are included. Minerva hallmark: from 1838.
Hallmark of master goldsmith FRAY Martial (active between 1849 and 1861) visible on the upper circle. This goldsmith is presented in the collections of the Musée d'Orsay.
