"Sugar Bowl In Silver And Vermeil, France Circa 1838"
Silver and vermeil sugar bowl, circular in shape, flattened, with a protruding and polylobed flared lip. The sugar bowl rests on a faceted pedestal with a turbulent outline, the belly is swollen with melon sides. The two side handles in appliques are in the form of scrolls decorated with acanthus leaves which form thumb rests. The removable lid is slightly domed, with a multi-lobed outline, surmounted by a grip in the shape of a blooming fruit. Beautiful original gilding preserved inside the sugar bowl. French work circa 1838.
