Silver Teapot, France, Circa 1840, By Veyrat, Silversmith
A repoussé and chased silver teapot resting on a four-footed base adorned with openwork motifs of beaded medallions, highlighted by a beaded frieze. The oval body, with its bulbous and polylobed sides, is decorated at the top with a wide, applied, and highly raised openwork frieze. The spout is gadrooned. The crook-shaped handle has thumb rests and insulators. The flat, oval lid, mounted on a hinge, is engraved with a coat of arms and surmounted by a finial in the form of a bouquet of blooming flowers. 950/1000 silver, Minerva hallmark. Maker's mark: Jean-François Veyrat, active from 1831 to 1840. Dimensions: Height: 16 cm Diameter: 15.5 cm Length: 30 cm Weight: 732 g Capacity: 1.1 liters. Very good condition, with some slight dents on the protruding parts of the body.
