French school from the beginning of the 19th century, lively scene of a Dauphiné castle overlooking a river, the portal stamped with coats of arms. The scene is animated by figures in boats and in the foreground a monk in prayer. Oil on canvas in oval format, presented in a rocaille style frame. First half of the 19th century. Pretty painting, very decorative, evocative of the gentle way of life of the aristocracy at the beginning of the 19th century.
