Beautiful fan with 16 strands of ivory and silk decorated with gouache from the second half of the 18th century. It presents on one side in central reserve painted in gouache a genre scene where we see a gallant offering a lady a birdcage. This scene is treated in a theatrical cartridge, on both sides, a bouquet of multicolored flowers enhanced with chain stitch and sequins. Bouquets of roses on the ends complete the decor. Friezes of flowers in the upper and lower borders underlined with a ribbon of gilded paper. The ivory strands are adorned with a chiseled decoration inlaid with silver, several visible gaps. The first and the last strand are openwork and decorated with vases, musical instrument and character enhanced with silver (some visible gaps). The silk begins to shear at the folds, see detail photos. This very old, fragile and delicate object will not be refunded or exchanged, thank you for your understanding.
