Superb mantelpiece set in Yellow Sienna Italian marble and patinated bronze, consisting of a large clock surmounted by a sculpture depicting a woman in the antique style and a pair of cassolettes on a pedestal, forming Medici vases. The clock is made on 3 levels of marble. In the upper part, a large bronze representing a young woman, draped in her toga, her hair girded with a crown of flowers topped with a large bow, is leaning on the clock. Books placed on it imply that the young woman is reading it. In the middle, a horizontal block of marble is decorated with ornamentation in patinated bronze, forming scrolls and palmettes. Below, the yellow marble plinth benefits from a large bronze frieze chiseled with foliage in the upper part and rests on four bronze feet, formed of large scrolls. This large clock is accompanied by small Medici vases in patinated bronze, supported by a pedestal in yellow Siena marble surrounded by a foliated bronze frieze.
