Martinez : "the Orange"

Martinez (early 20th century): "The orange", oil on panel 17.8 X 23.7 cm, mounted in a gilt Barbizon style frame 38 X 43 cm a little too large (tanned, small accidents). Signed and dated 1928 in red. Some attribute the works of this painter to Raoul Martinez (1876-1973), but I cannot guarantee this attribution, certainly convenient, but which is not attested. One regularly finds on the market usually animal works by this artist whose sense of light chisels his representations as here where an orange with its leaves placed on a table makes the exercise all the more perilous as its apparent simplicity does not tolerate no errors.
