Next to the sage, a child approaches, holding a scroll. The use of boxwood in the making of this netsuke with wise man on horseback gives a natural and warm touch to the work. There are inlays on the horse.
Signed ‘Tomokazu’ 友一 under the base in a mother of pearl plug.
