A Lacquer Kōgō Box In The Shape Of A Yakatabune
A rare lacquer incense box (kōgō) in the shape of a yakatabune, the traditional Japanese pleasure boat, with a removable lid. The exterior features a refined kinji finish (a ground of very fine gold powder) and is decorated in hiramaki-e with stylized vegetal motifs evoking the thatched covering of the cabin roof. The interior of the box is finished in nashiji.
