A Double-patina Bronze Vase With A Gilt Dragon, Nogawa Mark
A bronze vase carved and inlaid in high and low relief with inserts in gold, silver, and shakudō, characterized by a central band with a gilt dragon among clouds and waves, rendered with a strong sense of movement against a brown-patinated ground, bearing the Nogawa Company mark.
The lower section of the vase is decorated with phoenixes among branches and foliage, highlighted by silver inlays and gilt details. The upper section continues with a band decorated with flowers and leaves.
The Nogawa Company exhibited at major international exhibitions between 1893 and 1910, as well as at the Naikoku Kangyō Hakurankai of 1881 and 1890.
