China, Northern Wei Dynasty (386–534). A rare and very beautiful small Buddhist bronze altar with a dark green patina, resting on four legs, depicting Kwan Yin, the goddess of compassion, seated in the “royal repose” posture, leaning against a mandorla on which a small Amitabha Buddha sits in a meditative posture.
Dimensions: Height 9.8 (cm).
The scale reference in the last photograph is a small lighter model from a well-known brand.
In good condition except for normal wear due to its great age, which does not detract from the piece’s beauty. Soil encrustations.
