North India, first half of the 20th century, a superb and unusual copper-bronze temple lamp with a brown patina. Buddha is depicted on both sides in a standing position, his left hand raised and holding an object. Two dragons flank the statuettes from the top and sides. A large square base supports the entire piece, along with four oil receptacles. A hook and chain allow the lamp to be suspended in the temple to illuminate an altar. The piece is of fine quality. This temple lamp was collected in the 1960s in Chandigarh by the previous owner. Dimensions: Height 28 cm - 46.5 cm (including chain and hook) x Width 27 cm.
