Tibor Szontagh : "the Fagoteuse"
Tibor Szontagh (1873-1930): “La fagoteuse”, oil on canvas 60 X 81 cm, mounted in a more recent channel frame 73 X 93 cm. A very small restoration at the bottom right invisible from the front and a tiny scratch to the right of the signature, circa 1910. This important painting by the famous Hungarian painter specializing in rural scenes is treated here in an impressionist touch, the scale of the flowery landscape being given by the young and pretty Magyar collecting dead wood to make faggots.
