Louis Van De Velde: The House 1929
This house could be painted in the Netherlands or in Brittany, the artist Louis Van de Velde born in 1872 having stayed in both places and this type of old houses, with structured architecture of large pieces of wood, is found in two places, even in certain parts of England. Fascinated with geranium hotpot windows, they are the delight of tourists and here the painter who has made a generous and lively brush structure and the fleeing street with small gutters. Oil on strong cardboard 44 X 34 cm, marouflé on another cardboard a little bigger to be able to stud through in a frame that I just found in all my bazaar! ..
