French school around 1850/60: "Young girl", oil on thick mahogany panel 33 X 25 cm, mounted in a molded oak frame 40 X 32 cm. We feel that our painting was taken from life, perhaps like a study for a studio painting, and it retains in this a spontaneity, a moving sincerity. This young girl with cheeks rosy from the brisk air stands in front of what appear to be seaside cliffs and gazes at the viewer. If one cannot help thinking of Corot, the suggestion of the touch is not exempt from the influence of Courbet.
