Moving Work Of Devotion : “the Princess Of Lamballe”

France circa 1900: “Moving work of devotion: La Princesse de Lamballe”, framed chromolithograph mounted in a frame made up of disparate clock elements: crown of bronze laurel leaves (16 x 18 cm) and rear grille, two pendants made of iron beads (about 10 cm) were suspended there but are detached and are falling apart a little (I collected some beads for those who have the patience to re-thread them!). The atrocious death of the Princess de Lamballe during the revolutionary events helped to arouse a wave of legitimist feelings which still persists today.
