Beautiful miniature on ivory, portrait of a pretty young girl seated in a garden, blue ribbon in her untied hair, a serious look in her eyes. She is dressed in bure gown and cordelière of the Poor Clares.
Her family probably wanted to have this portrait done before her solemn vows,to keep a souvenir of their daughter before the "veture" ....
The miniaturist, who did not sign, produced a portrait that can be attributed to a great name, but I'm no expert.
Diameter:6.4.cm.
Discovered condition, miniature is in good condition, untouched, flawless, glass is original, a little worn, banding is original, a little deformed, original back;
Provenance: former antique dealer's collection.
