Lost wax cast bronze brush rest, hollow but very thick. Beautiful carving finish. No trace of gilding or pigment. Very original subject, the character is in a very dynamic position, with unusual gestures. The artist gave the hands a beautiful elegance by arching the fingers exaggeratedly. The bronze has a beautiful old patina. No restoration, good condition. However it seems that something is missing on the head, maybe a bun? Chinese hardwood plinth, probably not from the same period, but old. Chinese or Japanese work 19th century or before. Dimensions without the base: 13 x 8 cm.
