Repoussé bronze incense burner. Vietnam, 19th century. This incense burner is of exceptional quality. The chasing is precise, harmonious, and perfectly executed with the utmost care. The decoration is intricate, with a multitude of figures and details, all skillfully rendered. This is a beautiful creation by an excellent goldsmith. The front cartouche bears two Chinese characters that appear to be an auspicious wish; below, a four-character mark, possibly the workshop's signature. On the back, a couple is depicted seated at a table under a shelter, enjoying cups of tea. It would seem that this couple were important figures for whom this incense burner was made, either for a wedding anniversary or some other auspicious occasion. Vietnamese work from the late 19th century. Good condition. Width: 280 mm.
