Oval oil painting on canvas depicting Saint Stephen portrayed in a delicate and static pose, swamped in his clothes, he turns his eyes to the sky where the host of little angels awaits him. Much revered by the Catholic Church, Santo Stefano was the first Christian proto-martyr, that is, the first Christian to have given his life to bear witness to his faith in Christ and to spread the Gospel.
