"Madonna with Child Salvator Mundi" oil painting on canvas from the mid-17th century from the Flemish area.
The Virgin Mary is portrayed sitting, intent on protecting the Child who is standing on her legs. With a commanding and monumental attitude, she turns her gaze towards the spectator, aware of the relevance of her role. With her right arm she supports the Baby Jesus while with her hand she supports the "Globus Cruciger" or the globe surmounted by the cross.
The Child is portrayed with the characteristics of the "Salvator Mundi" and turns his tender and loving gaze towards the Madonna, holding the cross placed on the globe with his right hand.
Over time, the painting has undergone a conservative restoration, with color recovery, re-cloth and replacement of the frame.
